Every year UNESCO commemorates November 3 as the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists, through awareness raising events.
In 2021 we travelled around Pakistan and met with journalists in the field performing their duties under challenging circumstances. These were the stories of four brave journalists who are working tirelessly, against all odds to bring information to the people. Journalists face risks to bring us facts, so we as citizens have access to information which is our fundamental right. Therefore, concerted efforts must be made to ensure safety of journalists as laid out in the United Nations Plan of Action for Safety of Journalists and the issue of impunity. The video was developed with the support of the UNESCO Multi Donor Programme on Freedom of Expression and Safety of Journalists (MDP).
