"Torna a Surriento" by Ernesto De Curtis and Giambattista De Curtis (1905)

Описание: This is another traditional Neapolitan song I grew up hearing around my house, particularly from my father. It was composed in 1902, and, according to Neapolitan history, when Giambattista De Curtis was in Sorrento, the mayor of Sorrento, Guglielmo Tramontano, asked De Curtis to write a song about the city to remind the prime minister of Italy at the time, Giuseppe Zanardelli, about promises he made to improve the public works there.
But, according to family documents, the music was composed by Giambattista's brother, Ernesto, in 1894 and Giambattista only changed the lyrics to accomodate the mayor's request..
