Paul is sowing chickpeas (also know as Garbanzo) in our top plot. They are going in an edged bed which has pretty poor and rough soil as the apple tree nearby takes much of the nutrients and water from the surrounding area, though this should not be an issue for chickpeas. Fingers crossed! They did well for us last year and apart from being an interesting and unusual crop to grow they look fab and taste great, both fresh or dried.
Since 2018 we have been growing using the No Dig method of cultivation.
