Making Connections, Bridging Generations

This video presentation by Pei-Chia Lan (Taiwan), National Taiwan University, was first broadcast as part of a Professional Development Session at the IV ISA Forum of Sociology last February 24, 2021.

This Professional Development Session offered presentations from eight established scholars from different global regions speaking about their biographical, professional, and epistemological journeys. They answer questions sent in by ISA student members – from how they started in sociology to tips on doing research and publishing in their respective fields. Speakers offer insights into navigating the constraints of a career in the academe and collaborating with other scholars, or into engaging publics to foster change in society. This professional development session aims to enhance dialogue and debates among a global community of early career and senior sociologists and offer emerging sociologists some models to which they can imagine themselves in the future.
