Why We Shouldn't Want A.I.

Описание: The nativity of “AI utopia” lies in the assumption that the God's we create will want what is best for us.

And in thinking that utopia is only absent because we are simply "lacking A.I. slaves", rather than the fact which is, it's a structural issue, not a technological issue.

I am incredibly frustrated at this prospect. The prospect that all of the ingenuity, all of the hopes, dreams, aspirations, love, joy, creativity, peace, art, music, culture, family, friends, meaning, all of these things, the things we find that makes life worth living, are being threatened by AI. And by “being threatened” I mean: AI poses innumerable existential threats to all of life on Earth, and to what makes life meaningful. The potential threats are so obvious, but there’s very few people talking about it, very few people working out how to prevent it, and very little motive for profit-seeking corporations to worry too much about it (because regulations and restraint hurts revenue and their competitive edge). Or the all too common excuse of, well we can’t let China beat us to AGI can we? AGI, Artificial General Intelligence, is not something we can control. Or rather, we have many good reasons to believe that we will not be able to control AGI, because effectively, it'd be orders of magnitude more intelligent, more cunning, more capable than humans. And I argue in this video why we should not pursue AGI, and what are the most important ways to prepare for such a future. This is part 2 of my discussion on A.I., and part 1: "Why Farm in an A.I. Revolution" is about why I believe we need more farmers in the A.I. Revolution, why we need more people who are creating safe havens of abundance for the people we love, and do protect us from potentially rapid inflation.
