First of all, PFC holds 52% equity in REC making REC a subsidiary of PFC.
When we compare the objectives of these entities,
REC finances projects across the entire power value chain, from generation plants to distribution networks, while PFC primarily finances existing power sector projects.
India has set an ambitious target of installing 500 GM by 2030. So will entail capex of INR 1.35 lakh crores over the next 5 years. This would trigger huge demand of finance in power sector.
