This Video captures the MV Princess of Acadia departing from Digby, Nova Scotia. The Ferry is operated by Bay Ferries Limited (BFL) and makes a twice daily crossing on the Bay of Fundy between Saint John, New Brunswick and Digby, Nova Scotia.
The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world and today we were able to capture a departure during Low Tide (Morning Departure) and High Tide (Afternoon Departure).
The MV Princess of Acadia was built by the Saint John Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co., Ltd. and was completed in 1971. During the ship career it operated under many companies: CP Ships (1971-1976), CN Marine (1976-1986), Marine Atlantic (1986-1997) and Bay Ferries (1997-Present).
The Ferry had a Length: 480 ft (150 m), Draught: 15 ft (4.6 m), Depth: 40 ft (12 m), Propulsion: 2 diesel electric engines, Capacity: 650 passengers and 180 Cars or 33 Tractor Trailers.
(Note: MV Princess of Acadia was retired in 2015 and replaced with MV Fundy Rose)
