Citroën has introduced the ELO concept car, a compact electric study that showcases the brand’s approach to future mobility. Designed as an “ideas laboratory,” ELO brings together innovation, sustainability, and everyday functionality. Although small in footprint, the concept maximizes its 4.10-metre length with an interior that can accommodate up to six people, reflecting Citroën’s belief that modern electric platforms can unlock significant versatility.
With its modular layout and 100% electric architecture, ELO serves as more than a simple transport solution. Citroën positions it as a mobile living space that supports travel, leisure, and work, summarized in the concept’s name: R'E'ST, P'L'AY, W'O'RK. The interior can be reconfigured into a lounge, a workspace, or even a sleeping area for two, highlighting the brand’s goal of adapting mobility to the varied demands of contemporary life.
Citroën developed the ELO concept in partnership with Goodyear and Decathlon, integrating practical, technical materials with a focus on sustainability. The collaboration influenced areas such as storage design, seating solutions, and smart tyre technology. Goodyear’s contribution includes tyres equipped with pressure and wear sensors, paired with a simple visual indicator that glows green when pressure is correct and red when a refill is needed. Decathlon’s outdoor equipment expertise guided the creation of modular seating, inflatable mattresses, and accessories designed for active use.
A central element of ELO’s concept is the unique driving position. The driver sits in a central front seat, improving visibility and freeing space for passengers. This layout also removes the need to design separate left and right-hand-drive versions. The steering column is placed far forward to maximise cabin volume, and the seat can rotate 360 degrees to support work or social interaction when parked. Citroën’s updated projection-based display replaces traditional screens by reflecting information across the width of the windscreen, reducing complexity while maintaining clear visibility.
Modularity is at the core of ELO’s appeal. The second row features three removable seats, and two additional seats fold out from the sides to create a six-seat configuration without compromising cargo space. A flat floor and wide, pillarless door openings make it easy to move within the cabin, while the high roof and large glass area create an airy atmosphere. Outside, ELO is defined by a friendly, colourful design with an orange finish that shifts with the light. Identical front and rear bumpers, made from expanded polypropylene, help reduce production complexity and offer lightweight protection.
With its compact size, electric platform and multifunctional interior, ELO outlines Citroën’s interpretation of future mobility: accessible, responsible and aligned with changing lifestyles. Presented as a “tiny house” on wheels, the concept demonstrates how an electric vehicle can transform into a space for commuting, relaxing, working, or enjoying the outdoors. Set to debut at the Brussels Motor Show, ELO serves as a statement of Citroën’s ongoing commitment to creativity and user-focused innovation.
