16 degrees colder! Moscow to brace extreme freezing as city issues orange alert

Описание: Extreme cold weather hit Russia’s capital, Moscow, with temperatures falling as low as minus 26 degrees Celsius over the weekend.

A famous ice rink on Red Square was closed on Sunday due to the freezing temperatures and is not expected to reopen until Tuesday.

Temperatures were expected to fall to as low as minus 22 degrees Celsius on Sunday evening.

According to the Russian met office, the temperatures are around 16 degrees colder than normal for this time of year.

Moscow authorities have imposed an orange weather hazard till January 10.

The severe cold weather is expected to remain in Russia’s capital until Thursday (January 12).
