One of the highlights of my Costa Rican adventure was visiting Manuel Antonio National Park in the Puntarenas province. Renowned for its incredible biodiversity, the park offered an unforgettable experience—everywhere I walked, I encountered a new animal, from playful monkeys and colorful birds to iguanas and sloths. Witnessing such a variety of wildlife in one place was truly remarkable.

For a comfortable start to my journey, I stayed at Hotel y Casino Kamuk. After arriving in Costa Rica, I rented a vehicle at the airport and began my scenic drive southeast toward Manuel Antonio. The distance from San José to Manuel Antonio is about 170 kilometers (105 miles), with a drive time of 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and weather. The route takes you through rolling hills, lush countryside, and stretches of the Pacific coastline.

I captured the stunning landscapes and abundant wildlife with my trusty Samsung SH100 and Canon PowerShot SD1300 cameras, preserving memories of the park’s beauty.

Travel Tips for Visiting Manuel Antonio National Park:
Book accommodations in advance, especially during high season, as the park is a popular destination.
Arrive early to avoid crowds and maximize wildlife sightings.
Wear comfortable shoes & bring water, trails can be humid and sometimes steep.
Bring your camera/binoculars for the best wildlife and scenic views.
Be mindful of your belongings; local monkeys are curious and may snatch unattended items!
Park in official lots to avoid scams near the park entrance.
Explore Quepos, the town just outside the park offers restaurants, shops, and additional lodging options.

Exploring Manuel Antonio National Park was one of the most memorable parts of my Costa Rican journey. The combination of stunning beaches, lush rainforest, and diverse wildlife made it an experience I’ll never forget.
