Описание: What if... David Bowie had an '80s Spiders From Mars reunion? Imagine, if you will, it's late 1982 in an alternative universe, not unlike our own. David Bowie is working on the Let's Dance album with producer, Nile Rodgers and a crack squad of session players. The plan is to update and reinvigorate his sound with an upbeat, danceable approach, but something just isn't clicking for Bowie. After persevering for a few weeks, he is still unhappy with the album's direction, and comes to an unescapable conclusion - it's time to get the old band back together!

First, he calls in producer Tony Visconti, who quickly recovers from the slight of being replaced by Rodgers, and then sets about persuading the former Spiders From Mars to reconvene, coaxing Trevor Bolder away from Wishbone Ash, and pleading with Mick Ronson to abandon his commitment to work with John Mellencamp. Eventually, with Ronson and Bolder on board, Mick Woodmansey and Mike Garson are easier to convince, and the Spiders begin recording together for the first time in years.

The first fruit of this reunion is 'Modern Love', a sort of spiritual successor to 'Soul Love', with a touch of the sweeping grandeur of 'Moonage Daydream'. The single and ensuing album and tour are a resounding success, and although Bowie remains creatively restless, the band will go on to join him for occasional reunions for the remainder of his career.
