Today, Virtual Design Festival teams up with designer Ron Arad for a video launch of his "DFWTM" project and a live interview at 2pm UK time.
British-Israeli designer and architect Ron Arad has created a digital version of his DFWTM exhibition, which was originally supposed to be held at the OTI Gallery in Los Angeles, for Virtual Design Festival.
It features Arad's iconic "Big Easy" chair, launched with Moroso in 1991 and nicknamed Mickey Mouse for its similarity to the Disney character.
Arad explains that when he first started making the chair, which he created from drawings "before computers started invading our personal life", it was "very sketchy," due to the quality of welding at the time. "But we loved it," he said.
The latest iterations of the chair, named DFWTM for "Don't F**k with the Mouse", sees Arad going back to working with a brush and paint.
