Getting English word stress right is quite difficult, especially with words of three or more syllables. But getting your word stress right is essential if you want to develop your fluency and be understood. Can you correctly answer the 15 questions in this challenging English pronunciation test? This test takes just under 15 minutes. Keep track of your score and check how well you've done at the end of the test!
Don't forget to repeat after the correct answer is given. This will not only help your pronunciation, but also help you to remember the stress pattern when you see similar words. Eg. The stress pattern for words ending in 'ee' are all the same with the stress on 'ee' - employee, guarantee etc.
Please note that I am from the UK so this test is based on British English, and I have a southern accent so there may be some slight variation to other regional accents.
