The Digital Music Production program at Buffalo State College presents "Angels & Demons", played by the Digital Music Ensemble. The program is centered around Everybody Is Somebody's Baby, a new work by Buffalo-based artist and DME composer-in-residence Dave Bailey, which the ensemble will premiere at the event. The piece combines free improvisation on networked FM synthesizers with a four-channel fixed media element mixed live by the composer himself. The evening is rounded out with two divergent renditions of the evocative composition "Angels & Demons at Play" but the experimental jazz composer--and visitor from another world--Sun Ra.
The Digital Music Ensemble is a performing group that uniquely explores music technology and creativity. The ensemble provides students with the opportunity to play state-of-the art and vintage electronic music instruments. The repertoire of the ensemble is wide in its scope, from early analog electronic works to avant-garde pieces, covering a variety of styles and approaches to exploring music and sound.
David Bailey is a musician and composer based in Buffalo, NY. He has been a key member of several of the city's experimental music projects, including Cages, LBB, and Gas Chamber. He is the founder of the independent label, Nancy Jo Records, and plays bass in the art theatre band, Little Cake.
