The Battle of Manzikert (1071) also known as Jang-e-Malazgirt (جنگ ملازگرد), was one of the most decisive battles in Islamic History where Sultan Alp Arslan of the Seljuk Empire crushed the mighty Byzantine Army led by Emperor Romanos IV. This victory opened the gates of Anatolia for the Turks and became the foundation of the later Ottoman Empire.
