On a mostly overcast afternoon, VIA Rail locomotives 6409, and 6404 (both EMD F40PH-2Ds) slowly lead VIA Rail passenger train 14 - The Ocean (Montreal, Quebec to Halifax, NS) on the siding at CN control point CN Painsec Junction West with 17 passenger cars - 7 stainless steel Budd and 11 Renaissance cars. About 15 minutes later, a long manifest train CN L507 (Dartmouth, NS to Moncton, NB Gordon Yard) powered by Canadian National Railway locomotives 2647, and 2539 (both C44-9Ws) westbound passing Painsec Junction West at track speed hauling 93 cars of mixed freight and lots of autoracks. Both train were running a couple hours late.
Filmed at 3:35-3:54pm, Saturday September 13, 2025 at mile 118.71 of the CN Springhill Subdivision.
