Part One of our Eastbourne 70 series, celebrating 70 years since our predecessor line opened on 4th July 1954, and 55 years since it closed on 14th September 1969, at which point the Tramway moved to Seaton.
This film is a compilation of cine film, showing the development of the line between 1956 and 1969.
Join us across 2024 for some nostalgic reflections on the Tramway's time at Eastbourne. Here's the full schedule:
14th September: This date is the exact 55th anniversary of Eastbourne Tramway’s closure, and we will mark this with a “Then & Now” video, comparing archive images with the site as it looks in 2024.
We then follow this with a series of short films, each looking at a specific year in the life of Eastbourne Tramway, released on the following dates:

5th October: 1958
6th October: 1959

13th October: 1961
