This presentation explores the Natural History of the Salinas Valley through an interdisciplinary lens. It starts 300 million years ago and traces its geologic, tectonic, volcanic, and hydrologic history to better understand how the region became what it is today. These natural processes are connected to the human story of the Salinas Valley, including Indigenous land use, settlement patterns, labor history, and the rise of large-scale agriculture. By integrating earth science with social context, the presentation highlights how geology and water resources have directly influenced life in the region.
