🎓 Founders’ Day 2025 | Message by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor | 27 October 2025

On this special occasion of Founders’ Day, we honour the legacy of Dr. Sam Higginbottom—born 27 October 1874—who, after arriving in India in 1903 as part of a missionary-effort, went on to teach science and agriculture in Allahabad and establish the Allahabad Agricultural Institute in 1919 in the city now known as Prayagraj.

His vision of “modern farming in ancient India” and dedication to rural development laid the foundation for what today is known as the Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHUATS).

In this address, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor reflects on:

1. The enduring values and pioneering spirit of Dr. Higginbottom

2. The university’s milestones in teaching, research and community engagement

3. The roadmap for our future—growth, innovation and service

4. Inspiring words for our students, faculty and staff as we carry forward his legacy
