Katra: Sangarsh Samiti Protests Against Proposed Ropeway Project

Описание: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti, Katra, staged a strong protest on Tuesday against the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, demanding an immediate rollback of the proposed ropeway project.
According to the members of the Sangharsh Samiti, the ropeway project poses a serious threat to the traditional pilgrimage route and could deeply affect the livelihood of local ponywalas, pithus, shopkeepers, and other stakeholders who depend on the yatra for daily earnings.
Protesters raised slogans against the Shrine Board, alleging that the administration is moving ahead with the project without taking local stakeholders into confidence. They said the ropeway may reduce footfall on the track, leaving thousands of families facing economic hardship.
The Samiti members also urged the Lieutenant Governor-led administration to hold an open dialogue with all affected groups and reconsider the project in the interest of local residents. They warned that if the Shrine Board does not withdraw the plan, the agitation will be intensified in the coming days.
