We discuss the variations in determinate growth and indeterminate growth in organisms, and the role of meristems in the growth of plants.
We discuss the role of apical meristems in primary growth and the role of lateral meristems in secondary growth. We review how these cells divide to allow plant growth, and how some meristem cells remain undifferentiated to continue to support the meristems.
In roots, we discuss the root cap as well as the zones involved in primary growth of roots, as well as ground meristems and the endodermis, and the procambium and the pericycle.
