It's always a treat to have my old friend and collaborator Juanito Pascual swing by for a hang. Only made better when Chris Ladd is also here and we get a video out of the experience. In this case a new Aaron Green blanca of a very similar style to the first guitar I built Juanito in 2005. This guitar was also recently recorded by Chris Ladd which I am attaching at the end of this video. The point of the exercise was to demonstrate the tonal and dynamic ranges possible of this guitar and I am very happy with the results.

As I wrote in that video's notes-

In my work in cypress and specifically those designated as flamenco guitars, the original source of inspiration has been the guitars of Marcelo Barbero. Following his example would be the work of his student and successor Arcangel Fernandez and lastly Manuel Reyes. I consider all three builders the holy trinity of Spanish flamenco builders and for me, represent a tonal worldview that is the sound of Spain. All three builders built guitars intended for flamenco guitarists and offered so much more.

As with my classical guitars, the goal is a tonally flexible and complex instrument that is not limited in its usage. I believe it is a real shame that more players do not embrace cypress as a material in their guitars due to what I think is a prejudice based on exposure to what is popular these days among flamenco guitars. This kind of instrument, albeit perfectly suited to the demands of contemporary flamenco guitarists, are far more limited in their application , what I refer to as "one trick ponies".
