A Weekend in my Life in Beijing, China

My weekend starts on Saturday morning when I'm abruptly woken up by the terrible noise of construction happening in the apartment above mine. I quickly head outside without a plan of what to do, so I hop on a bike and ride until I find something that catches my eye. To my surprise, I stumbled upon a group of grown men swimming in a river in 30ºF weather.

Maybe the river swimmers could feel the warmth coming because that afternoon turned into the warmest day of March. I head to the historical hutong areas and check out the Drum and Bell Tower that was built in 1272. Later, I meet up with my friend and fellow YouTuber, Lauren. Follow her on Youtube & IG @LaurensChinaLife. We eat dinner at a Muslim Chinese restaurant and order way too much food!

One of the best things about living in an international city like Beijing is there are a lot of bars/restaurants where you can get all the comforts of your hometown. A huge American comfort for me is watching RuPaul's Drag Race!!! There is an expat-owned bar called, Nugget, that hosts a weekly Drag Race Night and I'm happier than ever to watch!

Sunday begins with a visit to the police station. No worries--I'm not in trouble! Just doing some mandatory registration updating. Afterward, I go to a literal hole-in-the-wall breakfast spot for some local Chinese pancakes.

Then I have a hilarious encounter with a stray doggy and his chicken wing. Then I head to my second job-- tutoring. I tutor an adorable 5-year-old, and with his parent's permission, he is featured in this video.

My weekend ends at the nail salon, where after a 4-hour long appointment, I come out with lovely pastel-colored nails. That's it ya'll! I hope you enjoy watching a typical weekend in my life in Beijing!!
