Laser engraving the Mona Lisa onto a piece of cardboard was the final test for my Raspberry Pi powered laser CNC that I built using stepper motors from scrap disc drives.
This version of the CNC had many optimisations in the code, and an added BC108 transistor controlled by the Pi's GPIO to provide TTL modulation for the laser module. By also varying the speed of the lower tray, more complex greyscale images could be laser-burned onto cardboard.
