During Christmas break of 2025, ChaCha and I set off on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Italy—a dream I wanted to make come true for her. After a long 14-hour journey from New Mexico to Italy, we finally landed and hopped on our very first train ride into Rome 🚆🇮🇹.

Despite the exhaustion, we couldn’t wait to explore. On our first morning in Rome, we wandered the historic streets on foot, slowly making our way toward Vatican City. We explored the Vatican grounds before returning later that afternoon with tickets to the Vatican Museums—an absolutely unbelievable experience and something we will never forget.

From there, we visited St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the world and built over the tomb of St. Peter. Standing inside was humbling, awe-inspiring, and emotional all at once. The history, scale, and beauty of this place are impossible to put into words ⛪✨.

That evening, we enjoyed our very first meal in Rome 🍝 before taking a magical night walk through the city. Along the way, we stumbled upon some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks, including the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and countless beautiful streets glowing under the city lights. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable Day 1 in Italy.
