The recent discussions about Greenland have been nothing short of alarming, especially given the desperation of MAGA supporters to defend Donald Trump's dubious claims about acquiring the territory by any means necessary. It's pretty fucked up that we're even having this conversation - talking about stealing a sovereign nation through military force is a brazen affront to international law. But given Trump’s recent comments stating that, he doesn’t need international law, and that his power is limited only by his “own morality”. He’s basically taken the position of a dictator.

Let that really sink in. The President is saying his powers are only limited by his morality. Not the Constitution or Bill of Rights or anything else that was setup when this country was founded to keep a President’s power in check.

But we're not just talking about military force here; I've seen some truly unhinged comments from the psychopath Steven Miller, who called for the world to be ruled by force. Then when Jake Tapper asked him specifically about Greenland: Are we going to use military might to seize it from Denmark? Miller's response was what you would expect a psychopath to say - "Why should they even have it?" he asked, implying that Denmark has no legitimate claim to the territory. It's absurdity based in their own authoritarian fantasies.

Meanwhile, some MAGA apologists are now defending Trump's claims by suggesting that we could "buy" Greenland, as if that were a viable option. The problem is that Denmark isn't interested in selling, and even if they were, Congress would need to approve any purchase, which is a laughable notion given Trump's track record of disregarding Congressional authority.

MAGA supporters are now claiming that Greenland is all about securing military bases for Trump. Newsflash: Greenland already has U.S. military bases, courtesy of the 1951 agreement between the United States and Denmark. Those bases exist because of our alliance with Denmark, which was negotiated to ensure our collective security in case of, for example, a Russian or Chinese attack.

So why are we even making such a fuss about Greenland? Katie Pavlich wrote on NewsNation that someone is going to end up controlling Greenland, and it's either the U.S., Russia, or China. But from a strategic standpoint, we already have control of Greenland; our alliance with Denmark obliges us to defend them - and thus Greenland - if attacked by any of those nations.

The level of analysis on outlets like NewsNation, Fox, and Newsmax is mind-numbing, resembling pure MAGA propaganda designed to brainwash viewers. What’s Bill O'Reilly's take? That this is just Trump's "art of the deal" move, a masterstroke that somehow outsmarts everyone else. But what's never mentioned is how Trump's erratic behavior has strained relationships with our closest allies, especially when he starts talking about taking Greenland by force or buying it. This only serves Russia and China in the long run, who would love to see the West and its allies in disarray.

So to end this, we already have sweeping military access in Greenland under the 1951 agreement; there's no need to take it by force or purchase it outright. The push to do so will only serve Russia and China by further eroding our relationship with our allies.
