Each year during the last weekend in September Wade House hosts its annual Civil War Weekend.
This fun-filled event brings the history of the American Civil War to life. Held throughout the historic site's 200-plus acres, the two action-filled days include battle re-enactments, military drills, medical care situations, camp life, period music, a visit with Abraham Lincoln, demonstrations, food and more.
This spectacle involves 500 re-enactors; cavalry, infantry, artillery and civilian life. Each year features a different historic scenario crucial to the outcome of the war.
Programs and activities abound for children and adults alike. Interact, explore and engage your entire family in the experience.
Visit Wade House and return to the time of stagecoach travel and see a community where Yankee refinement met the Wisconsin wilderness.
Stately and distinguished, the 27-room Wade House inn provided a respite for weary travelers in need of rest and sustenance.
Travel by horse-drawn wagon to watch the blacksmith demonstrate his craft, see a working water-powered sawmill and stroll among the country's most extensive collections of restored carriages.
Visit www.wadehouse.org.
Music is "Battle Cry of Freedom" and was provided by Palmyra Eagle Community Band.
