The Hammer and Anvil variation of the puter kepala.
The puter kepala or head turn throw is a classic technique found in numerous Southeast Asian arts including Silat, Kali and even Okinawan Karate. It is one of the seven primary throwing tools of Silat, along with beset, sapu, kinjit, kepala gajah, tarik kepala and various harimau throws.
There are scores of variations of the puter kepala. Here I show a variation that the Maphilindo stylists call the "Hammer and Anvil."
The technique that I use to parry the jab-cross is called Cover the Gun. I have a video that focuses specifically on that technique:
Brought to you by Sabeel Combatives with Wael Abdelgawad.
Sabeel combines the highly effective entries of Silat and Kali with the devastating throws and joint locks of Hapkido. There are also influences of Japanese Jujitsu and Karate. In Sabeel we keep only what works and discard the rest.
On this channel I showcase a wide variety of striking, throwing and locking techniques. Please subscribe and like.
