Ouray, Colorado climbing pioneer, Jason Nelson, gives a history lesson on establishing one of Camp Bird Road's hardest and best natural mixed lines. With great ice climbing, difficult, technical drytooling, and wonderful exposure, The Sky is Falling is one of the must do routes for folks capable of the grade. It's well bolted and has safe falls, so it also makes a good project for someone wanting to get out of their comfort zone. Funny enough, this climb was originally graded M9+ by Jason, quite the sandbag if you ask me. And even with the uptick, it's no gimme at the grade. Jason fathered the drytooling mecca of Ouray, establishing all but a couple of the Hall of Justice testpieces and the entire Remedy Wall crag.
The last episode or two of the Canada series has been delayed a week or so. I've been layed up sick for over a week, and no one would want to listen to my congested, nasally voice right now haha. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this short, engaging video. Thanks for watching!
