(#39) My Big Push To Excavate The Last Floors

Описание: A hot and sweaty week, with five days of hard excavating work.
I picked up where I left off last week, excavating the entrance room. But this time I was armed with a demolition hammer. I cleared rock from across the whole room and then removed the old drainage structure.
Then I moved in the final room at the front and hit some seriously solid seams of shale. They were tough to break, but with some careful digging they produced some great stones for future use.
Summer definitely arrived with some serious sun and heat outside, but thankfully the old stone walls kept it cooler indoors. Still, picking up every bit of rock and hauling it by wheelbarrow was tiring and the growth of the rock piles outside means I’m running out of space.
Alongside the work, I had two important meetings this week. First, with the architects and builder to plan the next phase of work. Second, a meeting with the council and the mayor about the path proposal.
And from the middle of the week I had Billy for company, who was keener on outdoor security patrols and sleeping indoors than digging out the rock!

about my channel and its videos

My channel is about the renovation and restoration of an old stone house on a hill in Catalunya (North East of Spain). The house is near the Costa Brava and has magnificent views of the forest around it and the Mediterranean Sea.

The house has many beautiful old features, including its stone walls, vaulted ceilings, ancient terracotta tiles and many quirky parts added over the centuries. At the moment, I am working on the house on my own as I try to turn it into a dream home in harmony with the nature and culture that surrounds it.

The house is not in France or Italy and is not a Chateau or Cabin, but I watch and am inspired by channels that are. Especially Martijn Doolaard and Dan Preston's Escape to Rural France. I love Martijn's style, philosophy and cinematography and Dan's energy, humour and ambition. I'm trying to include some of these attributes in my videos.
