Just to be clear, I include this little blurb on Richter’s transformation because it COULD be that. But until we get the results of the biopsy back, we don’t know exactly what is going on. It’s a subtle but crucial difference. In a couple days when we do know, everything could change.
Richter’s transformation is when CLL changes into a much more aggressive form of lymphoma. Instead of behaving like a slow-growing blood cancer, the disease suddenly begins acting like a fast-moving lymphoma, most often diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. It typically shows up as a rapidly enlarging lymph node, new fevers, night sweats, weight loss, or a sharp change in how someone feels. It’s uncommon, but serious, and it requires a different, more aggressive treatment approach than standard CLL therapy. (Thank you ChatGPT for the short description.)
