"한국에서 태어나 산다는 데 어떤 의미를 두고 계시나요"라는 물음으로 음반이 시작된다. 이어지는 10개의 트랙은 서로 다른 주제임에도 크게는 그 물음에 대한 스스로의 답을 구하는 과정처럼 들린다. 딱 떨어지는 결론으로 향하는 대신 픽션과 논픽션을 오가며 스스로의 의미를 찾기 위한 이야기를 쓴다. 그 과정에서 일과 친구, 사랑, 기억, 사람들을 만난다. 대개 어쿠스틱 기타와 첼로, 간소한 리듬으로 구성된 작은 편성이지만 분방하고 자유로운 정신이 담긴 음악이 이어진다. 그의 이야기가 끝나갈 때쯤, 어느새 음반의 첫 질문은 방향을 바꾸어 우리와 마주한다. 그래서 당신은 한국에서 태어나 산다는 데 어떤 의미를 두고 계시나요. - 선정위원 단편선

EBS Space Gonggam’s Choice - “100 Best Korean Pop Music Albums of the 2000s” [Playing God]

The album begins with the question, “What does it mean to be born and living in Korea?” The following ten tracks, although they have different themes, largely sound like a process of finding one’s own answer to that question. Instead of heading toward a clear conclusion, she writes stories of finding her own meaning, going back and forth between fiction and nonfiction. In the process, she encounters work, friends, love, memories, and people. The music continues with a small arrangement, mostly consisting of an acoustic guitar, cello, and simple rhythms, but full of a free spirit. As her story comes to an end, the first question of the album changes direction and confronts us. So what does it mean to you to be born and living in Korea? - Selection Committee Danpyunsun
