Grammy-award winning organist Paul Jacobs performs as soloist in the world premiere of Christopher Rouse's Organ Concerto with the Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin, November 17, 2016. Pictured are Mr. Rouse (left), Mr. Jacobs (center), and Mr. Nézet-Séguin (right).
“Intended to show off what the organ – and, of course, the soloist – are capable of” (Composer’s Notes, 2014), Rouse’s Organ Concerto was co-commissioned by the Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the National Symphony Orchestra. The piece was originally composed in 2014 and dedicated to Mr. Jacobs.
This recording is the property of the Philadelphia Orchestra and WRTI, released to Hemsing Associates for media purposes on February 9, 2018.
