STORYLINE
A string of rush-hour explosions blamed on Islamic militants tore into at least three London subway trains and a double-decker bus on Thursday morning, killing at least 37 people and injuring about 700.
London's busses and underground systems were shut down following the blasts, leaving many commuters stranded in the city.
Many trains were also cancelled or severely delayed.
On top of it all, commuters at the Victoria train station had to be evacuated after a bomb scare on Thursday afternoon.
Twenty-one people died at the King's Cross subway station, seven at Edgware Road, seven at Liverpool Street and two on the bus near Russell Square, Metropolitan Police said. Another 700 people were injured, they said.
The British flag was at half mast at Buckingham palace and other official buildings.
