The cold weather continues! The temperatures continued to drop, with a wind chill around 42 degrees below freezing, or -10F. BRRR!!!

I bundled up and headed out to the barn to do chores, and then came in to thaw out. I completed my homework, then headed back out. I immediately worked on haltering, grooming, and hoof handling. I practiced stopping and backing, which Diva again, wasn't thrilled by.

I worked on suppling her laterally, teaching her to bend through the neck and poll, giving to sideways pressure on the rope when I pulled, rather then backing out of it or fighting against it. Then my fingers froze, cameras died, and toes lost all feeling, and I went inside, letting Diva back into the barn, where she much preferred to be!


(NOTE) When editing these videos, I always must make a choice on what I am going to show. I have done hours of training every day, and have hours of footage to sift through. I have decided to show throughout Miss Diva's journey as much of the real difficulty and triumph that I really have to deal with as I can. Sometimes its eventful, and sometimes it seems like no progress is being made, and that is how it really is with horses. Additionally, I left my own mistakes in the footage. We all make mistakes, especially me. I enjoy making these videos, as reviewing the footage helps me to critique and improve my own skills, and to learn from my mistakes, so I don't make them again.

Diva is starting to get kind of fresh. Once we get her a little more solid on leading then we will take her out to the round pen where she can stretch her legs!
