Hey guys! I have a macrame butterfly pattern for you today! This pattern uses Lark’s Head knots, double half hitch knots (DHHKs) and square knots. Let’s get started.

Set up - What is great about this pattern is that you can use almost any number of cords to make a butterfly as big or as small as you’d like. For this tutorial I used 9 pieces of rope, each piece 5 feet long. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots.
Use the outer left cord as your filler cord and tie 8 DHHKs working down and to the right. Tie your first DHHK about half an inch down from the bottom of the dowel.
Use the outer left cord as your filler cord and tie 8 more DHHKs working down and to the right.
Repeat that process on the right side of your work.
Use the 2nd cord from the left and the cord 5 cords to the right of it and tie a square knot around the 4 middle cords.
Use the outer left cord as your filler cord and tie 7 DHHKs working around the square knot.
Repeat that process on the right side of your work. Tie a right facing square knot instead of a left facing square knot.
Tie a square knot with the 4 middle strands.
Using the inside left cord as your filler cord tie 8 DHHKs working down and to the left.
