In today's video I return again to the Mountain with the fractures and old homestead to sample a small stream for any potential gold. No gold was found on this trip.
The Mountain is made up of mostly Orthogneiss from Cretaceous (metamorphosed granite) and Fine-Grained Biotite Granite on its North and East sides from Eocene. The orthogneiss has been sheared and mylonited by detachment faulting.
There are pegmatite intrusions and a few quartz veins that can be found in certain areas on the mountain but they do not seem to be in abundance except near the eroded shear zone where faulting occured but however, most of the bed rock is covered with vegetation and weathered.
After sampling for about 5 hours in the stream, I found no gold and very little black sands. This does not mean there is no gold to be found on the mountain but very little if any gold to be found. However, other locations on the mountain may be different and may contain some gold.
