Описание: While traveling from Utah to Illinois, my son Bryce and I stopped at Hanging Lake for a hike. Hanging Lake, designated as a National Natural Landmark, was formed by a geologic fault that led to a drop in the lake bed from the valley floor. Water from Bridal Veil Falls feeds into the lake, creating a unique landscape with carbonates deposited along the shore. The 1.2-mile trail to Hanging Lake is steep and rocky, climbing 1,000+ feet through Deadhorse Creek Canyon in Glenwood Canyon. Hikers are advised to wear sturdy shoes, carry water, and be aware of the lack of mobile phone coverage. The trail to Hanging Lake consists of multiple switchbacks up steep terrain and leads to a boardwalk around the lake, with a short offshoot to Spouting Rock, a stunning waterfall exiting a sheer cliff. They say that winter hiking requires additional preparation, such as hiking poles and traction cleats for your shoes. We were not 100% prepared, but we did fine.
