The treatment protocol at our clinic is designed to address all three potential origins of sciatica pain. Dr. Steve uses a combination of Interferential Current (IFC) Therapy, heat, Shockwave Therapy, ART (Active Release Therapy), deep tissue release, and adjustments to provide relief and restore mobility.

The process begins with IFC and heat. Dr. Steve applies heat to the injured area, whether it’s the QL (Quadratus Lumborum), SI joint, or piriformis muscle. This helps increase blood flow, preparing the area for treatment. The IFC device, using suction cups, provides electric stimulation that further enhances circulation, relaxes the muscles around the spine and hip, and relieves pain in the affected area.

Next, Shockwave Therapy comes into play for areas like the SI joint, QL, and piriformis muscle. The shockwave device, a pneumatic gun, is used to deliver high-intensity pulses to the affected area. Dr. Steve adjusts the shockwave unit’s intensity based on the patient’s tolerance, ranging between 1.6 and 4.4 BAR. Between 800 and 1200 pulses are directed at the injury, helping break up tissue adhesions, reduce inflammation, and stimulate healing.

ART and deep tissue release are crucial in treating sciatica as well. Dr. Steve identifies the areas of pain and performs deep tissue work to release tension and improve mobility in the muscles before moving on to the final step.

Finally, Dr. Steve may perform a chiropractic adjustment to realign the spine and hip, targeting the area of injury. Since every patient’s condition is unique, the adjustment technique is personalized to ensure maximum relief and effectiveness.
