Sometimes there is a little food coloring left on a spoon, or in the bottom of a cup. I collected this leftover dye together to Space Dye some KnitPicks Stroll sock yarn http://shrsl.com/kp27 (Affiliate Link). I don't know exactly the proportion of colors that ended up in these dyes, or the number of different dyeing experiments these came from, but the unknown is part of what makes the finished yarn so beautiful. Let's have some fun with random leftover dyes!
VIDEO CONTENTS:
[0:00] Introduction - 12 cups water + 4 T white vinegar (an exhausted dyebath) + 100 g of dry stroll fingering weight yarn. 75% superwash merino/ 25% nylon. Heat the dyebath with the yarn until we get to a low simmer
[1:01] Adding the dye to the dyepot. These are food coloring mixtures that are a combination of many different colors.
[3:18] After 10 min turn off the heat to let the yarn cool in the pot.
[4:28] Removing the yarn from the pot
[5:13] Washing the yarn
[7:07] Conclusions and the finished dry yarn
