It’s been extremely hot in Croatia lately, with official heat wave warnings and rising sea temperatures. The sea was getting warmer every day and visibility dropped badly in the shallows.

The only way to dive was to start early before the sun and boat traffic. I entered from the shore like I usually do and started sneaking right away. I saw a sargo and a few gilthead sea breams but didn’t get lucky with the shots. Bands on my Triton 90 are completely worn out so that didn’t help either.

In the shallows I found some trash again, including a girly hat, and shot a salpa. Later a group of traveller mullets passed and I got one, but missed the second shot.

When visibility dropped completely in the shallow water, I moved deeper to search for dentex. One approached and froze about 8 meters away but didn’t react to calls and eventually swam off. I’ll be coming back here with a better setup.

On the way back I found a freshly dropped pack of live handgun ammo in the shallows. I took it out and used my backup phone to call the police. They confirmed the case and I handed everything over.

The next day, I found a gun magazine nearby and brought it straight to the police station myself.
