The Arch of Titus isn’t just an arch glorifying Emperor Titus’ victory in the First Jewish–Roman War (66–73 AD). It was also a potent symbol of the new Flavian Dynasty and the stability of rule after the end of the previous Julio-Claudian Dynasty founded by Emperor Augustus. In this video we will examine the arch and connect it to the wider geopolitical issues of the Roman Empire at the time of its construction.
