Hey, everybody. Ryan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Fastway e2 weight distribution hitch with two-point sway control on our 2010 Chevy Suburban. But before we do that, why don't we check this out and make sure that this is gonna work for you One of the common problems that you run into whenever you're pulling a trailer or camper that's kinda pushing the limits of your vehicle is the vehicle performance, right You hook up your trailer, the back end squats down a bunch, and what that's gonna do is just affect your overall performance. I'm sure if you're watching this, you can probably relate to that, right Affecting your tire wear, just your overall ride quality, your braking and steering performance, just your vehicle in whole, just your whole vehicle in general, rather, right And so, especially too, you start getting a camper like this or enclosed trailer, something along them lines, you know, catches wind. It starts swaying, blowing you all over the road, and it's just unpleasant.
And so you can do something to help correct or minimize that problem, and that's adding a sway control as well as weight distribution. And what that's gonna do is redistribute the weight evenly over the axles, get the truck back up in the air, get everything leveled to help that ride quality improve. And then, when the sway control comes into play, what that's gonna do is help keep your trailer tracking behind you and keeping you going straight and not having to fight it, wandering around all over the place nearly as much. So now that we saw how everything was set up before the weight distribution, this is what it looks like after it's all installed. And unfortunately, today, we have some inclement weather, 'can't get a great visual 'cause we're kinda stuck in the shop, but it's much better.
Essentially, the truck now is riding pretty much level. Camper's riding pretty much level as well. And you know, it's how you'd wanna pull a trailer. It's the right way to do things. It's going to really help the truck drive a whole lot better, you know, get all your performance back.
The trailer or camper is gonna tow that much better too. It's going to respond to bumps better, you know It's gonna be a better experience all around, you know It's gonna be more controlled in everything else. And to me, whenever you're pulling a setup like this, it's already somewhat nerve-wracking, you know, unless you're out there doing it all the time, super familiar with it, but that's not the case for everyone. And so, you know, for me, anything that could instill a little bit more confidence in you and make that trip easier is definitely worthwhile. And not to mention too, so the way weight distribution works, it's going to help evenly distribute the weight across all the axles.
And that's how it eliminates squat and sag and everything being on level and whatnot. So it's pretty cool. Everything's planted to the ground that much better. Not to mention too, this one has the sway control. So what that's gonna do is, like we said before, whenever you're going down the road and if your camper kinda starts to get squirrely and get away from you, this is going to help reduce that significantly. And the way it works is essentially by friction. And so whenever that sway starts to happen, these rods are going to, you know, create friction here and it's going to wanna force it back straight. So if it starts to wanna come, you know, let's say if it wants to start coming towards you, these rods are gonna counteract that and essentially wanna be in that straight position again. And that's what's going to help keep everything square and straight behind you. There is a lot of these type of systems available and, you know, they're all gonna work pretty well. I do like the solid bar type, like this style where there's not chains and stuff. I feel like it just works better. It's a little more user-friendly. And a setup like this makes sense too because you get the weight distribution and the sway control. And that's not the case for all of 'em. Sometimes, you just get weight. Sometimes, you just get sway control. But my thought is if you're gonna go through the trouble of doing this, you might as well get both benefits, right Makes sense to me. Do it once, call it a day. Something I do wanna me
