The exceptional Discovery channel programme 'Legendary Locations' paid a visit to Spike Island Cork and found much more than a old prison block. Our island location was the largest prison in the world during the 1850's and also held prisoners in an 1921, rebels who were fighting for Irish freedom. One such man was Patrick White who was shot by a British soldier while retreiving a sliotar during games. While the soldier was disciplined noting more came of it and the murder went unpunished.
While in the 1860s notrorious murder Seamus Walsh was held in our now 'abandoned jail', and his dark presense has been reported by many visitors.
