This car wasn’t just a big Ford sedan it was Ford’s attempt to build the most elegant luxury coupe in the world back in the mid-50s. Ford set up a whole separate Continental brand and hand-built these things in a special plant with painstaking quality checks and Scottish leather nobody else used. It was nearly ten thousand dollars new more than most Cadillacs and a legit face-to-face rival to Rolls-Royce at the time. But Ford lost money on each one they sold and after two short years the dream ended making it one of the most legendary never-mass-produced American luxury icons.
