When I used to go to disco-dances back in the 60's, a special dance was done whenever the song Wooly Bully ( by Sam the Sham & the Pharoahs) was played. I have only ever seen this dance to this song done in the Rotherham and Sheffield (England) area. I'm not sure that the dance travelled anywhere else . It looks best when people do it in a line of two or plenty. It has that "Riverdance" effect If done with a line of people. It is great fun to do. The last time I did it in a disco was in Sheffield, England, when I was forty one, twenty four years after I had first danced this 'special dance' to this record.
Yesterday 30th June was my 75th birthday. I did this video one day before I reached my 75th birthday, hence the title.
At the end of this dance I was so completely out of breath that I found it difficult to talk to the two policeman who had crept up on me towards the end of my dancing. You can see me spot them at around 2 minutes 10 seconds on the video. I thought "shall I stop or shall I carry with the video?". I thought "what the hell, I am carrying on". They were just curious about what I was doing, and when I explained what I was doing and showed them the video, the female police officer said she would try it out when she got back to the police station.
Pheww! I thought I was going to spend my 75th birthday in the nick ( English slang for Jail).
I could not do this dance properly as It was on gravel. You need smooth surface so that you can glide to the left and right each time with a ' chasse' type of movement.
Chasse - gliding in one direction with a series of steps in a "step-together-step' pattern with one foot always leading.
