Time to try the Short Comb and see how it compares to the Long that I've used recently.
I revisit the Cooper & French soap I've had sitting around for a long time (and love it).
And I continue working the Inked Astra vs. the Etched one.
Razor: Gillette - NEW Short Comb
Blade: Astra - Superior Platinum (10)
Lather: Cooper & French - Old Goat
Brush: Declaration Grooming - B13 BotiBrush 26mm (6 uses)
Post: Lather & Wood - Sandalwood
Razor and Blade Notes - Gillette - NEW Short Comb ::: Astra - Platinum (10 uses):
I noticed, after having these two variations of the same razor for several years, that, while the names of the two razors differed only in the mentioning of the combs, the top of the baseplate of the Short Comb looks very different than the Long Comb.
Blade support is very different and closer to the edge with the short comb. I wondered if the shave would be smoother.
Well, the long comb still seemed to have a nice grip on the blade, so after trying the Short, I learned that the edge seems just as firm with both.
But I suppose the exposure or gap must be different between the two, then. Because I got a nicer, smoother shave from the Shorty today.
The Long gave me a little irritation after the shave, while the Short didn't at all.
Soap Notes - Cooper & French - Old Goat:
Scent: Old Spice clone. Pretty good one to me.
Scent Strength: 6/10, firmly present during shaving.
Lather: This lather was wonderful! Why has this soap been sitting around in my Misc. bin for so long unused?
Made several years ago, it has attributes of the best of today's top soaps.
This is their formulation that includes Goat's milk and man I love it. Doesn't look like it's a regular base, though.
Silky feel, super quick razor glide, yet a luxurious light creaminess that felt nice in the fingers, and amazing between the brush and skin.
Hydration: Perfect (for me)
45 sec load with a Lightly-Wet brush
4.3 tsp added to make lather
= 6 passes of lather
Bowl: Roger Quintero 3D Printed Bowl
I use the XL version of this bowl.

Brush Notes - Declaration Grooming - B13 BotiBrush 26mm (6 uses):
Soft tips and easy splay. This guy is getting softer with just several uses.
*Shave Quality*
During the Shave Feel:
Cheeks: Felt blade but comfortable
Neck: Felt blade but comfortable
After the Shave Closeness:
Cheeks: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get
Neck: Near BBS - About as close as I'll ever get
I'm gradually adding answers to frequent questions here: http://www.sugardaddyshaves.com
Wetshaving is the age-old shaving method where you create a lather from a soap or cream, usually with a brush. And these days, we also usually mean using a safety razor (aka double edge or DE) or single edge or straight razor to remove the hair. We often enjoy less irritated skin, healthier skin, more enjoyable shaves, and often closer shaves than those who use a multi-bladed cartridge and canned shaving foam.
