Homies Empowerment has dedicated themselves to educating and elevating the youth of Oakland. Their next major step in this mission is by establishing HECHOS- The Homies Empowerment Community High School for Oakland Success. With a focus on civic engagement, emotional and spiritual development in addition to mental, and focus on community, the high school aims to benefit students who have been failed by the mainstream school system. Filmed during the pandemic. Our high school interns, The Crew, had 7 weeks to produce this piece. They planned the shots and interview questions while our instructor and a young adult intern filmed on location on their behalf. The Crew finished by editing the piece.
