In this fourth part of the webinar, Marco Piga explains the last value that GISNOVA can monitor in a HV GIS, the SF6 gas, and describes the integrated architecture of this monitoring system.
SF6 gas gives electrical insulation of the GIS and arc-quenching capability in the breakers. Electric utilities decide to permanently monitor the SF6 gas level in all compartments of gas insulated switchgear mainly to avoid unexpected failures, to optimize their maintenance strategy, and because of environmental awareness associated with greenhouse gas emission.
