What an iconic place!
A list of places we have visited -
1. Harsil - Everything is yellow here (literally). All the walls are painted in yellow color. To know more about this place and its mythology I will suggest you go to eUttaranchal website
2. Prakriti - The Retreat (@prakrititheretreat) - A riverside hotel that is 19km from Gangotri temple and 5km from Harsil helipad
3. Dharali - Just 6 km from the Harsil, this place offers epic views also it is famous for its apple orchards
4. Nelong - The last point which also requires permits. Nelong Valley is known as a cold desert mountain area in Uttarakhand and is very close to the Indo-Tibet border. No wonder why it is known as the Ladakh of the Uttarakhand state. The region opened up to domestic tourists in 2015, after being shut from the outer world since the 1962 India-China war
5. Gartang Gali - To reach here you first need to take a cab to Lanka bridge and then hike for about 2.5 km. This bridge was damaged over the years and has been reopened for tourists after 59 years following renovation
6. Gangotri National Park - One of the famous high-altitude Wildlife Sanctuaries in India. If you have time, go to Gaumukh glacier - the origin of the river Ganges which is located inside the park
